Global warming has led to melting polar ice caps, flooded coastlines and a drastic reduction of the human population. There is a new class of robots called mechas, advanced humanoids capable of emulating thoughts and emotions. David (Haley Joel Osment), a prototype model created by Cybertronics, is designed to resemble a human child and to display love for its human owners…

 

Vocabulary

ice caps - an area of thick ice that permanently covers the North and South Poles
forever last -a phrase meaning forever, used especially in stories
displaced person - someone who has been forced to leave their country because of war or cruel treatment etc
prosperity - when people have money and everything that is needed for a good life
genuine- a genuine feeling, desire etc is one that you really feel, not one you pretend to feel [= sincere]
fibre- the thin pieces of flesh that form the nerves or muscles in your body
