In the story, the diamond was originally owned by Louis XVI and cut into a heart shape after the French Revolution. Caledon Hockley, the wealthy son of a Pittsburgh steel tycoon, purchased the diamond for his fiancée Rose.
• Mauretania - Mauretania was an ocean liner designed by Leonard Peskett and built by Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardson for the British Cunard Line, and launched on 20 September 1907. • CQD* -  transmitted in Morse code as  – · – ·    – – · –    – · ·  is one of the first distress signals adopted for radio use. • White Star Line - The Oceanic Steam Navigation Company or White Star Line of Boston Packets, more commonly known as just White Star Line, was a prominent British shipping company, today most famous for their ground-breaking vessel Oceanic of 1870, their ill-fated vessel RMS Titanic, and the World War I loss of Titanic's sister ship Britannic.
